KINGSBRIDGE HORROR: SEVEN CHARGES FOR MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ABUSING AND KILLING GIRLFRIEND
A DEVON father accused of sexually abusing and murdering his partner before attempting to cover it up will face a single blockbuster trial after judges agreed to merge multiple indictments.Rowan Sutton, 30, of West Charleton Court, Kingsbridge, appeared by video link at Plymouth Crown Court, where prosecutors successfully applied to have all charges heard together.
Sutton is accused of the murder of 22-year-old Aimee Pike, who was found dead at the roadside on the A379 Embankment Road in the early hours of 23 April 2025.
An inquest later heard her medical cause of death was chest and abdominal injuries.
PROSECUTORS allege Sutton then attempted to pervert the course of justice, claiming Ms Pike had taken her own life by stepping into the path of a vehicle.
He denies that allegation and continues to deny the murder.
The court heard Sutton also faces five further serious sexual offence charges, including voyeurism.
He entered not guilty pleas to those counts at the hearing.
ALL SEVEN allegations will now be put before a single jury when the trial opens on 6 July 2026.
Sutton was remanded in custody and will remain behind bars until the case is concluded.
Ms Pike and Sutton had been in a relationship since October 2020 and shared two very young children together — a relationship background expected to be examined in detail during the trial.
Sutton, who speaks English and Spanish and has a lazy eye, previously studied at South Devon College and worked as a workshop technician at Broad Lane Garage.
