SEX OFFENDER AT NORFOLK JAIL FOUND WITH SKETCHES OF GIRLS AND BOYS
A convicted paedophile was found to have a collection of drawings of naked and partially clothed children he had sketched while serving a sentence at a Norfolk prison.
Rowan Baker was at HMP Bure, a specialist sex offender jail, near Coltishall, having been given an extended 114-month sentence after being found guilty of child sex offences in Kent.
Norwich Crown Court heard that Baker was found to have "a large quantity of drawings" when prison officers searched his cell in August 2023.
Baker had amassed around 380 sketches, many of them containing naked or partially clothed men, women, and children.
In one drawing, he depicted a character from the Despicable Me animated film covered in semen.
Another sketch of an island contained Japanese writing which translates to “Pervert is my own island”.
Prosecutor John Morgans stated many pictures were of children under 18, indicating his sexual interest.
Baker, currently held at HMP Bure, appeared for sentencing after being found guilty of possessing prohibited images following a trial starting on September 22.
He was previously convicted in 2020 of sexual assault of a child, causing or inciting sexual activity with a child, and possessing indecent images.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with the court describing the offenses as "extremely serious." Baker has been made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and remains on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
