ROSS MCCREADIE SENTENCED IN AYR FOR VIOLENT ATTACKS AND UNDER-AGE SEX OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the community of Ayr, Ross McCreadie, aged 24, was brought before Ayr Sheriff Court to face serious allegations of violence and sexual misconduct involving a teenage girl. The court heard that between February 1 and March 31, 2011, McCreadie subjected a 15-year-old girl to a brutal assault at an address in Ayr, during which he forcibly sat on her and repeatedly struck her across the face. The violence inflicted upon the young victim was described as severe, leaving a lasting impact on her well-being.

Further charges revealed that McCreadie was also found guilty of attacking the same girl in Fort Street, Ayr, between August 1 and September 30, 2011. During this incident, he again assaulted her by hitting her face, demonstrating a pattern of violent behavior towards her. The court was informed that in March 2012, McCreadie exhibited further reckless conduct by throwing objects around in the presence of the girl, who was identified as his 'girlfriend,' as well as her infant child. This act of throwing items was considered highly culpable and reckless, especially given the presence of a young child and the girl herself.

Sheriff John Montgomerie addressed the seriousness of these offenses, stating, “You were convicted in this court of assaulting your then girlfriend on two occasions and acting in a culpable and reckless manner towards her and your son by throwing items about. These in my view are very serious matters.”

Adding to the gravity of the case, McCreadie’s solicitor, Iain Gillies, provided additional context, revealing that McCreadie had recently been subject to a high court order after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a minor. Mr. Gillies explained, “He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register. He’s had to go on a programme for sexual offenders.” The solicitor also mentioned that some members of the girl’s family might have been involved in incidents where they encountered McCreadie on the street, though no specific details were provided.

It was disclosed that the girl was only 15 when she became pregnant, and her baby was born when she was 16. McCreadie has expressed no intention of maintaining contact with her or the child, and the girl herself has indicated she does not wish to see him. The court was informed that McCreadie is not involved in the child's life at present.

In sentencing, Sheriff Montgomerie ordered McCreadie to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and imposed a strict three-year ban on any contact with the girl, now 16. The court’s decision reflects the severity of the offenses committed and underscores the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from such harmful behavior.
