HARLOW MAN ROSS JACOBS JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES

A man from Harlow has been sentenced after admitting to multiple sex offences involving minors. Ross Jacobs, aged 22, of Spinning Wheel Mead, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 31st. He was found guilty of two offences: firstly, between May 31st and June 6th, 2021, at Harlow, he intentionally caused or incited a girl aged 14, not reasonably believing she was 16 or over, to engage in sexual activity in the form of sending sexually explicit texts and photos. Secondly, on May 31st and June 6th, 2021, he caused or incited a girl aged 15, not reasonably believing she was 16 or over, to send sexually explicit texts and photos and encouraged them to be sent to him.

He was sentenced to a community order with specific requirements, including attending up to 40 days of rehabilitation activities and completing 180 hours of unpaid work within twelve months. Additionally, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed for five years, restricting his device usage, online activity, and contact with children under 16 unless with parental or guardian approval. Jacobs was also fined £145.00. From the date of conviction, he is required to register as a sex offender with the police at Harlow for five years.
