ROSS CORBY AND WARWICKSHIRE BUS DRIVERS SENT TO JAIL FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN WOLSTON AND WARWICKSHIRE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Ross Corby, a 64-year-old man from Manor Farm Estate in Wolston, has been convicted of serious sexual misconduct involving a 14-year-old girl. The incident, which took place in 2010, also implicated two other bus drivers, Parminder Mandier and Anthony Cowan, who worked for the same bus company and operated in Warwickshire.

All three men faced a seven-day trial at Birmingham Crown Court, where the court heard detailed evidence of their inappropriate interactions with the underage girl. Mandier, aged 38 and residing on Gulson Road in Coventry, and Cowan, aged 28 from Napton Road in Stockton, both denied the charges against them. However, Corby pleaded guilty to the allegations, which involved a series of sexual encounters that were arranged after the men established contact with the girl through text messages.

The court was presented with a series of chat logs and excerpts from a diary kept by the girl, which documented the progression of the relationships and the nature of the encounters. The evidence revealed that the men, who were trusted to transport children to and from school, exploited their positions of authority and trust for their own sexual gratification.

Judge Nigel Godsmark delivered the verdict and sentencing, emphasizing the gravity of the offenses. He stated, “All three of you were in a position of trust and took advantage of the immaturity of a 14-year-old girl for your own sexual gratification. There is no suggestion of any conspiracy between you, which I find difficult to accept.”

Mandier was sentenced to five years in prison, with the judge noting that what began as a misguided attempt at fun had escalated into a full-blown sexual relationship, describing the episode as sordid and indicative of a loss of reality. The judge ordered that Mandier serve half of his sentence before being eligible for parole.

Cowan received a similar five-year sentence, while Corby was sentenced to two years behind bars. The judge condemned Corby’s behavior as “appalling” and highlighted a “disturbing element of corruption” in his actions. All three men were placed on the Sex Offenders Register and were subjected to Preventative Orders that prohibit them from working with children or having unsupervised contact with females under the age of 16, in an effort to prevent further harm and protect vulnerable minors.
