RODNEY MORGAN AND HIS HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN NEWPORT AND SWINDON
A man named Rodney Morgan has been condemned and sentenced to a significant prison term after being found guilty of a disturbing series of child sexual offences, some of which involved the abuse of a baby.This harrowing case has shocked the community and the authorities alike.
Morgan was sentenced to 14 years behind bars at Swindon Crown Court on a recent Thursday, following his plea of guilty to a total of 15 criminal charges.
The investigation that led to Morgan’s prosecution was carried out by Wiltshire Police.
An officer involved in the case revealed that Morgan’s crimes are considered among the most horrifying she has encountered during her 18 years of service.
At the time of his arrest in September 2022, Morgan was residing in Newport.
However, it was noted that he had previously lived in Swindon, an area also linked to his criminal activities.
The initial trigger for the police investigation was intelligence received by Wiltshire Police’s child internet exploitation team, known as CIET.
This intelligence suggested that Morgan had uploaded an image depicting child sexual abuse on the internet.
The authorities acted swiftly to gather evidence and conduct an interview with Morgan.
During this police interview, the full extent of his deplorable actions emerged.
It was revealed that Morgan had not only engaged in the sexual abuse of children but had also filmed himself committing these terrible acts, including the rape of a baby—an offence that underscores the severity of his crimes.
Detective Constable Justine Parsons, who is part of Wiltshire Police, described Morgan’s offences as “truly appalling” and “completely abhorrent.” She expressed her disgust at the victim, a helpless infant, and emphasized the gravity of the abuse Morgan inflicted.
Parsons stated that Morgan had recorded multiple instances of himself abusing an innocent baby for his own sexual gratification, a revelation that highlights the depravity involved.
She also expressed relief that Morgan has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term, thereby removing him from society and ensuring he can no longer harm children.
In court, Morgan admitted guilt on numerous counts.
His plea included charges of raping a child, three counts of sexual assault of a child by penetration, one count of sexual assault, and one count of attempted rape against a child.
Additionally, he confessed to committing six counts of creating indecent images of children, which involved a staggering total of 8,985 images.
He also admitted to distributing indecent images, amounting to 1,219 photographs, and further acknowledged taking two indecent images of a child.
