July 2009 Man, had ‘sordid liaison’ with girl A SEX offender shook as he was he sentenced for a “sordid sexual liaison” with a teenage girl. Robin Teague had sex with the teenager and later performed a sex act on her after the pair exchanged explicit text messages, Gloucester Crown Court heard. The 40-year-old was given a three-year community order and ordered to attend a sex offender programme after admitting two sex offences involving the girl. Teague stood in the dock in a blue and white striped top and was visibly shaking throughout the whole hearing on Monday. Robert Davies, prosecuting, said: “The Crown say he should have taken responsibility given his greater maturity.” He said text messages had been sent between Teague and the girl – some of which had been sexual in content. In the run up to Christmas last year, the pair had consensual sex, said Mr Davies. A few days later, Teague performed a sexual act on the girl. The girl then became upset and spoke to somebody else about what had been happening, the court heard. After he was arrested, Teague was interviewed. The 40-year-old, of West Avenue, Drybrook, had earlier admitted two sex offences against the teenager relating to a three-day period in December last year. Mr Davies said Teague had unrelated convictions in the past. Joe Maloney, defending, said Teague was embarrassed and deeply sorry about what had taken place. He said: “His own life has been turned upside down.” Judge William Hart said it had been a “sordid sexual liaison” of a despicable kind. But he added the activity had been consensual and the girl had to “bear a significant amount of responsibility”. He sentenced Teague to a three-year community order with three years’ supervision. He also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and to attend the Thames Valley Sex Offenders’ Programme.
