ROBIN FENTON FROM LOUTH SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LINCOLN
In a case that has shocked the community of Louth and the surrounding areas, Robin Fenton, a 48-year-old man from Jubilee Crescent, Louth, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 19 years after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving young girls. The crimes, which spanned from 1997 to 2005, included rape, indecent assault, and indecency with children, leaving a trail of trauma and heartbreak for the victims involved.Fenton’s trial at Lincoln Crown Court revealed disturbing details about his actions. The court heard that he had committed three counts of rape, ten counts of indecent assault, and an additional charge of indecency with a child. The offences against one of the victims reportedly began when she was just 11 years old, with Fenton abusing her repeatedly before progressing to rape. The second victim, who was 12 at the time of her abuse, also suffered multiple assaults by Fenton, including rape on several occasions.
During the proceedings, the jury was informed that Fenton had denied the allegations, claiming that the girls had lied about what happened. His defense barrister, Alison Summers, argued in mitigation that Fenton maintained his innocence and believed that he had not committed the offences. However, the court was not convinced, and Judge John Pini QC delivered a stern judgment, condemning Fenton’s actions as wicked and depraved. The judge emphasized that Fenton had shown no remorse and had caused “incalculable damage” to his victims.
Adding to the gravity of his misconduct, Fenton had been granted bail during his trial but chose to go on the run. He disappeared for several days, only to be located in Ireland, where he had traveled with his pet dog. Recognizing the seriousness of his flight, Fenton returned voluntarily to Lincolnshire and surrendered to the police. Following his return, his trial resumed, and he was remanded into custody.
In the courtroom, Fenton was also found guilty of failing to answer his bail, further demonstrating his disregard for legal proceedings. The judge made it clear that Fenton’s actions reflected a pattern of wickedness and depravity, with no mitigating circumstances to lessen his culpability. The court’s verdict and subsequent sentencing underscore the severity of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims.
As of now, Fenton remains in custody, awaiting sentencing, with no official date set. The case has left a lasting scar on the community of Louth, highlighting the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable children from such heinous acts.
