ROBERT YOUNG FROM AIRDRIE AND GLENMAVIS CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD PORNOGRAPHY MATERIALS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Airdrie and Glenmavis, Robert Young, aged 34, has admitted to possessing and distributing highly indecent images and videos depicting young boys being sexually abused. Young, who works as a shop assistant at a local supermarket in Airdrie, was apprehended during a police raid at his residence in Glenmavis, where authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of illicit material.

During the operation, six police officers executed a search warrant at Young’s family home, uncovering two computers and a mobile phone that contained hundreds of indecent images of young boys. The material included some at the most severe levels of indecency, involving acts of sadism, torture, rape, and sexual penetration of children by adults. The authorities confirmed that the images depicted boys as young as eight years old, with the collection spanning ages from eight to fifteen.

Young’s criminal activity was traced back to a period between 2011 and 2014, during which he downloaded these illicit images. The police investigation revealed that he had been actively acquiring such material over several years, raising serious concerns about his ongoing involvement in child exploitation.

According to the prosecution, Young had been downloading content from websites dedicated to pre-teen and young teenage boys, which further underscores the disturbing nature of his activities. The seized devices contained a staggering 555 images of young boys being sexually exploited, along with 250 videos that featured similar content. Of these, approximately 100 images and videos were classified at the highest levels of indecency, involving extreme acts of abuse.

In addition to the computers, a memory stick belonging to Young was found to contain 320 sexual images of young boys and 120 videos, with 49 of these at the most severe levels of indecency. Further examination of his mobile phone by vice squad experts uncovered 197 still images of naked young boys and 78 videos, all of which are considered highly disturbing and illegal.

Young has admitted to the charges, which include possession, distribution, and showing indecent images of children to others. He also confessed to taking or allowing the taking of indecent photographs of young children between May 2011 and March 2014. Despite his guilty plea, sentencing has been deferred until March 5, pending a comprehensive background report and risk assessment to evaluate his potential threat to the community.

He has been placed on the sex offenders register and released on bail, but the case continues to raise serious concerns about child safety and the extent of his criminal activities in the communities of Airdrie and Glenmavis.
