ROBERT YOUNG FROM BURGESS HILL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRLS IN SUSSEX
In a recent court ruling, Robert Young, a 39-year-old man residing on Denham Road in Burgess Hill, has been sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction for multiple sexual assaults on teenage girls. The incidents occurred over a span of five days in July of the previous year, with all offenses taking place within the town of Burgess Hill, including at St. Johns Park.Young's criminal activities came to light after a thorough investigation by Sussex Police, which revealed that he had inappropriately touched four teenage girls during separate encounters. The police confirmed that in some instances, Young touched the girls on their bottoms, actions that caused significant concern and distress among the victims.
His arrest took place last July, and he has been in custody ever since. The case was brought before Lewes Crown Court, where Young was convicted on January 17 of four counts of sexual assault. The court proceedings culminated in his sentencing on Friday, March 24, at Hove Crown Court.
As part of his punishment, Young will be registered as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his future interactions with young females. Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which imposes strict limitations on his contact with minors, aiming to prevent any further offenses.
These legal actions underscore the seriousness with which authorities in Sussex are treating cases involving sexual misconduct, especially those targeting vulnerable teenage victims within local communities like Burgess Hill.
