ROBERT YEOMANS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON IN SHREWSBURY FOR SEVERAL SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS

A 60-year-old man named Robert Yeomans has received a life sentence after being convicted of multiple heinous sexual offences involving young girls, some as young as three years old. Over a period of 15 years, from 2004 to 2019, Yeomans subjected four girls to his vile attacks. He was found guilty of 41 offences in total, which include rape, sexual assault by touching, and possession of indecent images of children.

During his sentencing at Shrewsbury Crown Court, the judge described Yeomans as a 'dangerous' offender with a longstanding sexual interest in children. He was ordered to serve at least 16 years and 8 months before becoming eligible for parole, underscoring the gravity of his crimes.

Detective Constable Stuart Bott, from the Proactive CID Serious and Organised Crime Team, expressed appreciation for the victims' bravery in coming forward. He said, 'I would first like to thank the victims who have been incredibly brave in coming forward and giving evidence.' He also noted that the judge recognized Yeomans as a dangerous individual.

Additionally, Det Const Nenagh Brady commented on the emotional toll inflicted on the victims, stating, 'The misery he has caused to the victims is inexplicable and I am pleased today’s sentencing will mean he can no longer prey on young and vulnerable people. I hope it gives other victims the confidence to come forward and speak with the police.'
