ROBERT TRIGG SENTENCED IN LIVERPOOL FOR CHILD ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES
A child rapist and offender, Robert Trigg, engaged in deeply disturbing criminal behavior involving the abuse and exploitation of a young boy.The National Crime Agency discovered that Trigg had been accessing child pornography online, and in May of the previous year, officers raided his home in Haydock, seizing electronic devices, including his iPhone.
Prosecutor Arthur Gibson explained that forensic analysis of the device uncovered numerous indecent images.
Liverpool Crown Court was told there were 36 images categorized as the most serious level of abuse, 38 in the next, and 137 at the lowest level.
It was also noted that three images in each category depicted the same young boy, who police successfully identified.
According to Mr.
Gibson, the abuse occurred when the boy was between three and five years old.
Trigg, of Fairclough Crescent, Haydock, had taken explicit photographs of himself abusing the boy and had stored images showing both of them naked and engaged in inappropriate sexual activities in a secure vault on his phone, so he could revisit them at his leisure.
Trigg pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including the oral rape of the child, inciting the boy to engage in sexual activities, and taking indecent photographs of the boy.
Since his initial offenses, Trigg was also convicted of three charges related to downloading a total of 147 indecent images across all categories of severity, for which he received a community order.
Judge Denis Watson, QC, sentenced him to 11 and a half years in prison, with an extended license period of 12 months.
The judge described his conduct as involving "grotesque and serious offending" and noted that the victim was just five years old at the time, with all crimes occurring on the same day.
Addressing Trigg's possession of the images, the judge stated, "He kept the images so he could access them if he wished to do so." The court also heard that reports indicated Trigg posed a high risk of re-offending against children.
Consequently, he was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and to comply with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Defense lawyer Paul Becker acknowledged Trigg’s intelligence, highlighting that he held 13 GCSEs and had worked in various sectors, including the hotel industry.
Becker mentioned that Trigg’s life had been affected by alcohol problems and noted his involvement with the HoneyRose Foundation charity in St Helens.
He stated, "He accepts full responsibility for these terrible offences and is thoroughly ashamed of himself."
