April 2022 Powys sex offender had two indecent images on his phone Two indecent images of children were found on a registered sex offender’s phone, a court has heard. Robert Plumbley had his phone checked during an unannounced visit to his home in Llanidloes by a police officer on April 8, 2021. Welshpool Magistrates’ Court heard that Detective Constable Michelle Beeson looked at Plumbley’s search history and was concerned with what she had found. The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to making an indecent Category C photograph of children between November 1 2020 and March 3 2021 when he appeared in court on April 19. Rebecca Ross, prosecuting, said an indefinite sexual harm prevention order was imposed in 2009. “DC Michelle Beeson made an unannounced home visit to check his devices and home conditions on April 8 2021 at 10.45am with an officer,” she said. “DC Beeson found search words ‘lads’ with thumbnail images of concern. Images contained on the device appeared to be naked under 18 year olds. DC Beeson then seized the phone.” The images were examined and a digital report found two images that were classified as C. Magistrates ordered Plumbley to complete a 24-month community order that includes attending 31 sessions of the Horizon sex offender programme, and 250 hours of unpaid work. Nerys Jones, chair of magistrates’, said: “We have considered both reports very carefully. We are going to follow the probation service recommendation. Thank you for the probation service for a very thorough report.” She told Jones: “The offence is serious enough for a community order for 24 months. If you break any of the requirements and your sentence will be increased and this could include prison.” Plumbley, of Foundry Terrace, must also pay £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
