DERBY SERIAL RAPIST ROBERT PARKIN SENTENCED TO OVER 30 YEARS IN PRISON
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Derby community, Robert Parkin, a man from Derby, has been sentenced to more than three decades behind bars for his heinous crimes. The conviction stems from a series of brutal sexual assaults committed against three different women, incidents that have left lasting scars on the victims and the local populace alike.
The trial, which spanned three intense weeks at Derby Crown Court, located in Chesterfield, saw the victims bravely take the stand to recount their traumatic experiences.
Despite Parkin’s persistent denial of the allegations, the jury carefully considered the evidence presented and ultimately found him guilty on three counts of rape.
In addition to these convictions, he was also convicted of stalking and assault, charges that underscore the severity of his actions.
During the sentencing hearing held on Friday, July 7, one of the women delivered a powerful victim impact statement.
She described the ongoing psychological torment she endures, stating, “When I go to sleep I have constant nightmares of him being released from prison coming to my house and trying to get in or that he is sitting in the bushes watching me.” Her words highlight the profound and lasting effects of her ordeal.
Judge Adrian Reynolds, presiding over the case, sentenced Parkin, who resides on Uttoxeter Road, to a total of 32 years in prison.
The sentence comprises a 24-year term with an additional eight-year extension, reflecting the court’s assessment of the danger Parkin poses to society.
Furthermore, the judge ordered that Parkin be registered as a sex offender for life and issued a restraining order to prevent any contact with the victims.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of justice for victims of sexual violence and the ongoing efforts to protect communities from repeat offenders.
