ROBERT NEILL OF THATCHAM SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AT KENNET SCHOOL, READING
Robert Neill, aged 63 and residing on Park Lane in Thatcham, was convicted of committing a series of sexual assaults at Kennet School, where he was employed from 1986 to 2003.
A former PE teacher at the school who selected vulnerable boys to prey upon and sexually abuse has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for raping a pupil.
During the sentencing, Neill's wife blew him a kiss as he was led to the cells on Wednesday, March 9.
Judge Angela Morris at Reading Crown Court highlighted the lasting impact of his actions, stating that he had left an indelible mark on his victims, some as young as 11.
Neill, who also served as a housemaster at Kennet School, was found guilty of multiple sexual offences, including rape, committed over 17 years while working there.
The court heard that Neill targeted the most vulnerable students, often selecting the youngest boys and those who misbehaved, inviting them to his office under the pretense of academic or disciplinary matters.
He specifically acted as the head of St Michaels House at the school, using his position to carry out his abuse during private meetings within the school grounds.
Judge Morris described him as someone who preyed on the youngest pupils to commit his crimes, causing lasting trauma to his victims.
