GRIMSBY MAN ROBERT MYHILL CAUGHT WITH OVER 161,000 CHILD PORN IMAGES AND CANNABIS

In a disturbing case uncovered in Grimsby, police authorities revealed that they had discovered an alarming collection of more than 161,300 images depicting child pornography on the computer of Robert Myhill, a 58-year-old resident of Wellington Street, Grimsby. The investigation was initiated after authorities received intelligence from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, indicating that Myhill had been engaging with illicit websites associated with child exploitation.

On May 18 of the previous year, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Myhill’s residence. During the raid, they uncovered a staggering number of 161,367 images related to child pornography, which highlighted the severity of his offenses. In addition to the digital evidence, the police also discovered three large cannabis plants growing in a bedroom within his home, along with dried cannabis material stored in a carrier bag. These findings pointed to a pattern of illegal activity extending beyond the possession of illicit images.

Myhill admitted to downloading these images over a period of approximately five years, revealing a prolonged engagement with such material. His defense attorney, Simon Hirst, explained that Myhill’s drug use had increased significantly after he lost a stressful job about 15 years ago. According to Hirst, Myhill’s initial interest in adult photographs eventually escalated into viewing images of children, a development he described as a source of deep disgust and shame for his client. The attorney also noted that Myhill had become increasingly isolated as a result of his actions.

Myhill, who had no prior criminal record before these offenses, faced serious legal consequences. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison and was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk posed to the community.
