A man accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Robert Mather, who is 44 years old and resides at Wesley Court in Walkden, was convicted of sexual assault by penetration during a trial held last month.
He received his sentence at Bolton Crown Court on Wednesday.
The incident took place at a residence in Bolton in May of the previous year.
The victim's mother, who is legally protected from being identified, expressed her feelings, saying: "I hate him.
My daughter attended court to hear the verdict but couldn’t bring herself to look at him." She added, "Now, she just wants to move on and rebuild her life."
