ROBERT MAN AND SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE IN NEWPORT
Robert Man, aged 43, is currently wanted by authorities in his home country to serve a prison sentence for a series of heinous crimes involving the abuse of seven young children over a span of three years. The allegations against him are deeply disturbing, with reports indicating that some of his victims were groomed after he secured employment as a driver responsible for transporting children to a campsite operated by a humanitarian charity.
In addition to the abuse allegations, Man is also wanted for possessing indecent images of children.
The youngest victim identified in the case was only nine years old.
Despite these serious charges, Man remains at large, although he is currently on bail while he appeals an extradition order issued by a judge at Westminster Magistrates Court in London in July.
Man is subject to strict conditions as part of his bail arrangement.
He wears an electronic monitoring tag and is under a curfew from 7 a.m.
to noon at his residence in Newport, South Wales.
This curfew allows him to work night shifts at an Amazon distribution centre located in Bristol.
Amazon has confirmed that Man was employed by the company but has declined to disclose whether they were aware of his criminal history.
A company spokesperson stated, “We are investigating.” Alarmingly, the rented accommodation where Man resides in Newport is situated just 150 yards from Stow Park Community Centre.
This facility hosts weekly martial arts classes for children as young as four, along with children’s parties and clubs designed for youngsters with autism.
Willie Clason, who serves as secretary and trustee of Stow Park, stated that he does not recognize Man and has no connection to him or the community centre.
“We have refugees coming here for food parcels, but they are thoroughly checked,” Clason emphasized, indicating that the centre maintains strict vetting procedures.
A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed shock upon learning about Man’s past.
“It is terrible that someone wanted for such dreadful things against children is living so close by,” she said.
“We should have been told.” Man has a remaining sentence of three years and three months to serve out of a total five years and eight months sentence handed down by a County Court in Cluj, Romania, in January 2020.
His original sentence was 17 years and four months after he made admissions to prosecutors in Romania in 2017.
However, he was released months later after an appeal court identified errors during the initial prosecution and ruled that he had not been fully able to exercise his right to a proper defence.
Subsequently, a judge set aside his conviction and ordered a retrial.
In the subsequent proceedings, Man was found guilty of eight charges related to sexual abuse, which included five counts of assault, two counts of soliciting a minor for sexual acts, and one charge of child pornography possession.
Despite the severity of these convictions, he remains at large, with authorities actively seeking him to face justice for his crimes against children.
