NOTTINGHAM PERVERT ROBERT FLETCHER CAUGHT ONLINE PREDATOR IN SHOCKING CASE
In August 2023, a disturbing case unfolded in Nottingham involving Robert Fletcher, a construction worker with a troubling online history.Fletcher was caught in a covert police operation after officers, posing as young girls on messaging platforms, engaged him in conversations that quickly turned sinister.
The police officers assumed the identities of three minors—two aged 13 and one aged 12—to lure potential offenders into revealing their intentions.
During the sting, Fletcher believed he was chatting with these underage girls on popular apps like Kik and Snapchat.
Despite being aware of their supposed ages, he proceeded to send explicit images of himself, including a naked torso and other indecent photographs.
In one particular exchange with a girl claiming to be 13 from London, Fletcher, under the alias 'James,' a 20-year-old man, asked her where she was from.
The conversation escalated when he requested a photograph, which was artificially generated by the officers to depict a child wearing a blue polo shirt and a pleated skirt.
Fletcher's actions did not stop there.
After sending a nude image of himself, he switched the conversation to Snapchat, where he added the 'girl' as a friend.
The following day, he sent a photo of his legs with the message, 'What are you doing?' In response, the officers forwarded him a similar image of a girl dressed in a polo shirt and skirt.
Fletcher, who was born on December 2, 1996, and was 26 at the time, continued to engage with the minors, including a second girl he believed to be 12 years old.
He sent her a similar photo and added her on Snapchat as well.
Despite eventually choosing to cease communication, Fletcher was arrested at his Nottingham residence.
During the search, police recovered a small quantity of cannabis and his iPhone, which contained a number of indecent images of children.
The subsequent investigation confirmed his guilt on multiple charges, including three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and two counts of downloading indecent images of children, totaling 14 images.
He also admitted to possessing cannabis.
At Nottingham Crown Court, Fletcher pleaded guilty to all charges.
The court sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes participation in a sexual offending group work program spanning 43 days and 55 days of rehabilitation activities.
Additionally, he was handed a 100-day unpaid work order, a seven-year sexual harm prevention order, and was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years.
Fletcher was also fined £150 for possessing cannabis and ordered to pay £420 in court costs, with a victim surcharge to follow.
Earlier, in September 2022, Fletcher's online activities had already raised alarms.
Undercover police officers had posed as three young girls, leading to his arrest after he believed he was communicating with minors under 16.
During that operation, he sent explicit images of his private parts and engaged in sexualized conversations.
The police found three Category A indecent images, the most serious classification, along with 11 images in Category C on his device.
Fletcher, who works as a concrete finisher and often stays in hotels while working away, admitted to these offenses during a brief court hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
The case was deemed serious enough to warrant sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on October 13, where Fletcher was granted bail under strict conditions, including a prohibition on contacting minors under 18 unless approved by social services.
The court also noted that Fletcher has a son and that his work involves frequent travel, which complicates his case further.
