ROBERT DOCKERILL FROM CROOK ERWASH AND LOUGHBOROUGH CONVICTED OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CRIMES

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Crook, Erewash, and Loughborough, Robert Dockerill, a 32-year-old man originally from Crook, County Durham, has been found guilty of serious charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images of a child. The conviction was handed down after a jury at Birmingham Crown Court reached a unanimous verdict, despite Dockerill’s initial denial of the allegations.

Dockerill, who previously served as a deputy head of the sixth form at Loughborough Grammar School until his departure in 2004, was accused of engaging in the production and possession of explicit material involving minors. The case revealed that Dockerill had access to four separate computers, all of which were scrutinized during the investigation and found to contain child pornography. This evidence played a crucial role in securing his conviction.

The court’s judgment included a range of penalties aimed at addressing the severity of his crimes. Dockerill was sentenced to a community rehabilitation order, which requires him to undergo supervised treatment and monitoring. Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of seven years, a measure designed to keep the community safe and ensure ongoing oversight of his activities. As part of the court’s ruling, Dockerill was also ordered to attend a specialized sex offenders’ programme, intended to address and mitigate the risk of reoffending.

Furthermore, the court mandated that Dockerill pay costs amounting to £10,000, reflecting the expenses incurred during the legal process. Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Jon Wood emphasized the breach of trust involved in this case, stating, “He was a respected member of the community who held positions of trust within that community… he abused that trust in the most appalling way.” Mr. Wood’s comments underscore the gravity of the offense and the betrayal of public confidence that such actions represent.

Overall, the conviction of Robert Dockerill highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from harm, especially when those involved are individuals who once held positions of influence and respect within their communities.
