ROBERT KNIGHT FROM EDINBURGH SENTENCED AFTER REPEATED OFFENSES INVOLVING CHILD PROTECTION DECOYS

In April 2024, Robert Knight, a resident of Edinburgh, was taken into custody after engaging in inappropriate and sexual communication with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. The interaction was part of an operation conducted by Scotland's Child Protection Team, which had set up a decoy to monitor and catch potential offenders. Knight not only engaged in sexually explicit conversations but also sent a series of indecent images, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.

Following his arrest, Robert Knight faced legal proceedings and was subsequently charged. He was granted bail but faced significant consequences for his actions. In the same year, he was sentenced to serve 250 hours of community service, a measure intended to hold him accountable while allowing for rehabilitation. Furthermore, he received a five-year extended sentence, which indicates a longer-term concern about his potential for reoffending.
