HULL MAN SENTENCED AFTER THREATENING JUDGE AND ENGAGING IN SEXUAL COMMUNICATIONS WITH MINOR
Police were alerted after an aggressive individual, Robert Bielby, threatened to kill a court judge.Bielby held a grudge against the judge, believing he was the same judge who sentenced his brother.
His threats to kill the judge were serious enough that witnesses reported and authorities intervened.
The incident occurred when Bielby was due to appear at Hull Crown Court on September 10.
Prosecutor Michael Forrest stated that Bielby admitted to using threatening words or behavior, as well as separate charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, trying to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, and attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
Bielby, 35, of Great Thornton Street, Hull, was already in custody on remand.
In a related online misconduct case, Bielby created a Facebook account posing as a 14-year-old girl, with whom he exchanged messages, explicit images, and a video, asking for indecent images and asking if she wanted to see him naked.
Despite the interaction, he did not meet the girl.
He had a prior conviction for exposure in his youth.
During sentencing, his defense highlighted his post-2007 good record.
Bielby was sentenced to two years and nine months in jail, along with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, and he is required to register as a sex offender for life.
