RISHPAL MAKKER FROM WELSHPOOL SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRLS

In a case that has shocked the community of Welshpool, a young man named Rishpal Makker has been sentenced to a significant prison term after being found guilty of engaging in disturbing sexual activities with two underage girls. The incident, which took place in Welshpool, has raised serious concerns about the safety and vulnerability of minors in the area.

According to court reports, Makker, aged 22 at the time, had established a pattern of communication with the two teenage girls through text messaging. Over a period of time, the messages exchanged between them became increasingly explicit and sexual in nature. The court was told that Makker’s messages grew more provocative, ultimately leading to him inviting the girls to his residence in Church Street, Welshpool.

Once at his home, Makker engaged in sexual acts with the girls, which included simulating sex acts. The court heard that during the assault, one of the girls sustained an injury, and both victims were left visibly distressed and confused by the traumatic experience. These events compounded their pre-existing vulnerabilities, making the situation even more troubling for the court.

Prosecutor Mrs. Anna Pope emphasized that the case only came to light after one of the girls confided in her mother about what had transpired. This revelation prompted an investigation that ultimately led to Makker’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.

During the hearing, Makker admitted to participating in sexual activity with the two girls, who were only 14 years old at the time. The court was informed that he had taken advantage of their friendship and trust, exploiting their innocence for his own gratification.

In sentencing, Judge Niclas Parry described the case as extremely serious, highlighting the gravity of Makker’s actions. The judge pointed out that Makker was aware of the girls’ young age, noting that he was eight years older than them. As part of his punishment, Makker was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offender register for a period of ten years and was subjected to a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order (Sopo). This order explicitly prohibits him from being alone with girls under the age of 16, aiming to prevent any future harm.

The court’s decision underscores the importance of safeguarding minors and sending a clear message that such predatory behavior will be met with strict consequences. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk behind seemingly innocent interactions and the need for vigilance in protecting vulnerable young people in Welshpool and beyond.
