WALTHAM CROSS MAN JAILED FOR GROOMING YOUNG TEENAGERS
A man named Ridvan Uruqi, who was convicted of paedophilia and lives on Trinity Lane in Waltham Cross, has been given a prison sentence for grooming and sexually abusing adolescent teenagers. He orchestrated and supported the travel of two young victims to London locations where they were sexually exploited over a period from December 28, 2020, to January 3, 2021.
Following a trial that lasted 22 days, Uruqi was convicted on four counts related to arranging or helping with travel for the purpose of exploitation, as well as one count of engaging in sexual activities with a child.
The police investigation began in 2021 after a female victim reported being sexually assaulted.
Uruqi was initially detained and faced multiple charges, including sexual assault and facilitating travel for exploitation.
He received a sentence at St Albans Crown Court of nine years for the travel-related charges and five years for sexual activity with a minor, with the sentences running concurrently.
He will also be subject to a 15-year Slavery Trafficking Prevention Order.
Detective Sergeant Ayodeji Afolabi commented, 'Uruqi targeted vulnerable teenagers, grooming and then exploiting them sexually.
I want to acknowledge the bravery of the victims and witnesses who came forward.
Although this was undoubtedly difficult for them, their cooperation was crucial in securing justice against Uruqi.'
