RICKY YOUNGER SENTENCED IN ABERDEEN FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER

A man named Ricky Younger, aged 33, has been handed a two-year prison sentence following a violent assault on his former partner in Aberdeen. The incident, which took place on May 16, 2022, has shocked the local community and highlights ongoing issues of domestic violence in the area.

According to court proceedings, Younger had followed his ex-girlfriend back to her flat after an argument at his mother's house. The argument was triggered by her telling him that their relationship was over. As she was walking home, Younger suddenly appeared and launched a brutal attack, throwing her to the ground and hitting her repeatedly in the head. The assault was severe enough to cause visible bruising and significant pain.

After the initial attack, Younger continued to pursue her to her residence. Once there, he once again threw her to the ground and attempted to choke her, an act that resulted in further injuries and distress. The court was informed that Younger had previously been released from prison just over three weeks before this incident. His criminal history includes a notable conviction from 2009, when he was sentenced to six years for raping a woman at Aberdeen Harbour.

During the court hearing, Younger admitted to assault causing injury. However, his background report revealed a troubled history, including some denial of his past actions, which the sheriff noted during sentencing. The sheriff emphasized that given the circumstances and Younger’s history, there was no alternative but to impose a custodial sentence. Consequently, he was sentenced to two years in prison.

As he was led away from the court, Younger shouted in frustration, exclaiming, 'It’s a bloody joke!'
