RICK DAVIDSON FROM FORFAR CONVICTED OF RAPE AND MULTIPLE ASSAULTS IN SCOTLAND

In November 2018, a disturbing case unfolded involving Rick Davidson, a man from Forfar, who was convicted of serious sexual offenses and assaults. The incident came to light after Davidson, a 48-year-old known for a history of violent and abusive behavior, was found guilty of raping a young mother just one week after he was released on bail.

The victim, a 27-year-old woman, recounted her harrowing experience during a court hearing held in Edinburgh. She explained that her financial struggles, particularly concerning her daughter’s upcoming birthday, led her to offer sex in exchange for money. Despite her intentions, Davidson, according to her testimony, made it clear he did not pay for sex. However, he then subjected her to a brutal rape ordeal.

She described the assault vividly, stating, “Things got quite heated very quickly. He pushed me on the bed and he raped me.” The woman further explained that Davidson used force against her back, rendering her unable to move. She recounted that during the attack, Davidson slammed her head against the floor, intensifying her sense of helplessness. When asked how long the assault lasted, she responded, “I don’t know. It felt like forever.” She also expressed her distress, saying, “I was asking him to get off.”

Following the attack, the woman fled to the bathroom at Davidson’s residence in Forfar, desperately seeking a safe space. She described her reaction, saying, “I was just trying to find a safe place. I was screaming.” Her account highlighted her shock and fear, especially considering she had never met Davidson face-to-face before. Their contact had been initiated through social media, and she had gone to his home after drinking.

During her testimony, she reiterated that she had offered sex for money, but Davidson insisted he did not pay for sex. Despite her account, Davidson denied the rape and a series of other charges spanning over 22 years, during a ten-day trial. Ultimately, the court found him guilty of assaulting and raping the woman.

Prior to this conviction, Davidson had been released on bail twice at Forfar Sheriff Court. The most recent bail was granted on September 26 of the previous year, after he was accused of breaching an earlier bail order. His criminal record also includes eight additional assault charges against four other women and a young boy aged between eight and 11 at the time of the attacks. These offenses further underscore the pattern of violent behavior associated with Davidson.

He is scheduled to be sentenced next month, and the case has drawn significant attention due to the severity and duration of his criminal conduct, as well as the circumstances surrounding his repeated releases on bail despite ongoing allegations.
