RICHARD MACROW SENTENCED IN NOTTINGHAM FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND DISTRIBUTION
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Nottingham community, Richard Macrow, a 58-year-old resident of Nottingham, was convicted and sentenced for possessing and distributing a large collection of indecent images depicting children.The police investigation revealed a horrifying hoard of material that included scenes of torture and sexual assault involving minors.
When law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Macrow's Nottingham residence on Morley Avenue in July 2016, they uncovered an extensive cache of illegal content.
The authorities discovered a staggering total of 1,061 videos, many of which were classified as the most severe category of child exploitation material.
The crown court heard that the collection contained nearly 30,000 images, with over 14,000 of these being categorized as the most serious, including approximately 1,000 videos in motion.
The severity of the material was underscored by the presence of videos that depicted children as young as six months old, subjected to acts of torture, rape, and other forms of abuse.
Prosecutor Leanne Summers detailed that the police found a total of 354 items of extreme pornography, alongside numerous photographs involving minors.
The investigation also uncovered evidence that Macrow had used the dark web to distribute some of these images, raising concerns about the extent of his ongoing involvement in such illicit activities.
According to the evidence presented in court, police received information indicating that images had been sent via the internet to Macrow’s home.
The longest video discovered during the raid lasted for an hour and 47 minutes, illustrating the disturbing nature of the content he possessed.
Macrow was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of indecent images of children and the distribution of such material.
He pleaded guilty to these charges, acknowledging his involvement in the possession and dissemination of the images.
The court sentenced him to 28 months in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and to make his computer available for police inspections during that period, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Judge emphasized that Macrow’s actions contributed to the abuse and suffering of children, describing his role as part of a broader pattern of disturbing behavior.
The case has served as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in the production and distribution of child exploitation material, and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to combat such heinous crimes.
