RICHARD KRAKOWSKI SENTENCED IN BLACKBURN FOR DECADE-LONG SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

Richard Krakowski, a man aged 72 from Blackburn, has been handed down a prison sentence of nine years and three months following a lengthy and disturbing history of sexual misconduct spanning over ten years. The case against him was brought to light after authorities uncovered a crucial piece of evidence: an SD card that, rather than containing innocent recordings, revealed a series of heinous crimes committed by Krakowski.

Investigations into the case revealed that the offenses occurred between 2012 and 2024, involving the sexual abuse of a victim who was secretly filmed by Krakowski for his own gratification. The evidence showed that Krakowski had installed a hidden camera in a bathroom, capturing footage and images of his victim without their knowledge or consent. This act of voyeurism was part of a broader pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over a decade.

Once the police examined the contents of the SD card, they discovered numerous explicit images and videos that served as concrete proof of Krakowski’s criminal acts. The investigation led to his arrest on suspicion of multiple charges, including eight counts of sexual assault and one count of voyeurism. Krakowski later pleaded guilty to these charges at Preston Crown Court on December 20th, avoiding a lengthy trial. His guilty plea marked a significant step in delivering justice for his victim.

Following his conviction, Krakowski was sentenced to nine years and three months in prison. The court also mandated that upon his release, he must register as a sex offender for life and comply with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which is designed to restrict his future conduct and protect the public.

During the court proceedings, the victim delivered a heartfelt statement, expressing a desire for Krakowski to never harm anyone again. The victim stated, “I am building my life again and I am getting stronger every day. You have not won.” The strength and resilience demonstrated by the victim were praised by law enforcement officials.

DC Beth Turner, from the East Vulnerability Investigation Unit, commended the victim’s bravery throughout the legal process. She emphasized that Krakowski is a sexual predator who exploited others for his own perverse pleasure. Turner reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to supporting victims and pursuing justice, underscoring that such criminal behavior is inexcusable and will be met with firm legal action.
