June 2018 Pervert caught by paedophile hunters  A Devon man sent naked pictures of himself to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl and tried to persuade her to meet him for sex. Richard Knight, 30, was fooled into thinking he was chatting online with a young teen when in reality it was a self-styled paedophile hunter group UK database They turned up on his doorstep in Barnstaple and confronted him with the chat logs before calling police. A judge at Exeter Crown Court said Knight had ‘behaved like a paedophile’. He gave him a community order and told him to attend an accredited sex offender course to stop his behviour. Knight admitted attempting to incite a child into sexual activity and attempting to sexually communicate with a child. Prosecutor Mr Nigel Wraith said the first offence spanned a period of time in August and September last year. “The messages were sexual in content and he sent photos and video of himself naked,” he said. “The conversations were about wanting to meet up and have sexual relations. There were conversations about keeping it secret from their families and friends.” Judge David Evans said: “It makes little difference that you were found out through the actions of certain groups calling themselves paedophile hunters, what matters is what you did. “You attempted to incite someone you thought was called Jodie, who was really an adult playing a part, who told you from the start she was 13. “You attempted to incite her to have sexual intercourse with you.” Knight advised the girl to go ‘on the pill’ and sent her porn showing what he wanted to do to her. You say you derive no sexual gratification but I find that implausible,” said the judge. Knight was given a three year community order, told to do unpaid work, 20 days rehabilitation and 40 days on the sex offender course. He was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to curb his behaviour.
