MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO RECKLESS INJURY OF INFANT IN ANGUS
A man has admitted to causing serious injuries to a 14-week-old baby in Angus by recklessly mishandling the infant during play.Richard Kennedy, aged 32, appeared in Forfar Sheriff Court to plead guilty to culpably and recklessly injuring the baby on January 3, 2021.
He caused the child's femur, clavicle, and rib to fracture after throwing him in the air while playing 'airplanes' while the mother was in another room doing yoga.
The baby fell and required medical attention, including visits to a minor injuries unit and Ninewells Hospital, where a fracture to the baby's right femur was confirmed, along with fractures to his rib and clavicle that appeared to have occurred at the same time.
The child has since fully recovered after treatment and care.
Sheriff Paul Brown deferred sentencing and ordered reports.
Kennedy also admitted to a campaign of domestic abuse against a woman, involving repeated contacting, shouting, refusal of private phone calls, and an incident where he punched and broke a TV.
He is from Salamander Place in Leith, Edinburgh, and his sentencing is scheduled for July 12.
