PREDATORY VICTIM-BLAMING ANGUS TEACHER JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS
Andrew Wilson was apprehended following media coverage of his previous criminal activities.
A predator and former teacher from Angus, known for blaming victims, has received a prison sentence of nearly four years.
During the early 1980s, Wilson targeted a teenage girl who was considered vulnerable.
At that time, he was employed as a secondary school Latin instructor and also led a hillwalking club.
Wilson had previously served three years in prison in 2021 for abusing three schoolboys repeatedly.
Rewarded by media reports detailing that case, the latest victim decided to report her experience from four decades ago to the authorities.
On Tuesday, Wilson received a sentence of three years and nine months at the Glasgow High Court.
He admitted to multiple counts of indecent assault committed between 1981 and 1984.
Lady Drummond noted that Wilson had 'manipulated' his victim during a process involving 'a high level of grooming.' The assault occurred after a school trip to Aviemore with his hillwalking club.
After dropping off other students, Wilson invited the girl into his home, claiming fatigue.
The prosecutor, Adrian Stalker, emphasized that Wilson exploited the girl’s vulnerable state and his position as her teacher.
