RICHARD JONES FROM FELTHAM AND HANWORTH SENT BACK TO PRISON OVER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE

In February 2008, Richard Jones, a man with connections to Feltham and Hanworth, found himself once again behind bars after authorities uncovered additional indecent images on his computer, reigniting concerns over his previous criminal behavior. The court proceedings revealed that Jones, aged 22, had been involved in the possession of child exploitation material over a span of two to three years, dating back to 2004.

Jones’s criminal activities first came to light in November 2006 when a 13-year-old girl, whom he had groomed online and later met in person, reported to the police that he had performed a sexual act in front of her. This incident prompted a police investigation that led to a search of his bedroom, which was located at his aunt’s residence in Hayes. During the search, authorities discovered hundreds of images depicting young girls from various parts of the country, many of which were of a highly indecent nature.

Although police were only able to trace five specific images, Jones was charged with possessing these indecent images. In April of the following year, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years. He was released in May after serving most of his sentence while on remand.

However, his release was short-lived. Prosecutor Simon Carr explained that Jones’s license was revoked in June after he was caught attempting to contact one of the girls involved in the case via the internet. This breach of his license conditions resulted in his return to prison. Subsequently, he served the remainder of his sentence and was re-arrested at the prison gates upon his release in November.

Further investigations uncovered that Jones possessed two video clips of a 16-year-old girl. After his initial release, he sought out and kept these videos, which added to the charges against him. The court heard that Jones was also found with additional indecent images during the latest search, leading to his conviction on five counts of possessing indecent images of children.

At Isleworth Crown Court, Judge Sam Katkhuda sentenced Jones to an extended term of three years and two months. The judge emphasized the serious harm caused by such behavior, stating, “It is not always apparent to people like you the damage you cause to naïve young girls who are persuaded over the internet to pose for sexual and degrading images for your gratification. This sort of behavior is not only unacceptable, it is abhorrent to the public.”

Jones, who is described as homeless but with family ties to Hanworth and who has lived on Elmwood Avenue in Feltham, was also banned from using a computer or accessing the internet ever again. The court’s decision underscores the severity of his offenses and the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in the possession and distribution of child exploitation material.
