October 2012 Back to jail for child rapist who breached order A CONVICTED child rapist has been jailed for ten months for violence and breaching a restraining order against his wife. In 2000 Richard Hucker was jailed for 11 years for raping a 12-year-old girl. A court heard Hucker, then aged 20, attacked the youngster in Whitchurch in 1998. On Friday Hucker, now 32 and of no fixed address, appeared at Bristol Crown Court after admitting affray, common assault and breaching a restraining order. The court heard he visited his partner’s home and became involved in a drunken stand-off with police, in which he threatened an officer with a knife and threw missiles at them. Judge Martin Picton told him: “The stand-off with the police was a very serious offence. “For them to be presented with a large, drunk and aggressive man, armed with a knife, put police in a terrible position. “They didn’t deserve any of that.” Julian Howells, prosecuting, said Hucker was made the subject of a restraining order against his wife, but in August turned up at her Bristol home. Mr Howells told the court: “She received a phone call from him and she phoned the defendant back. She suspected he had been drinking. “He accused her of cutting him off. She got home and she found lights on in the lounge. She could see a glass panel was broken and she found the defendant sweeping glass.” The court heard Mrs Hucker left the home with her children and called police. When officers arrived at the scene he threatened them with a large knife and threw rocks, stones and even vegetables at them, the court was told. Mr Howells said: “Police were extremely concerned. He said he had done seven-and-a-half years and the first (officer) in would be fine, but the second behind the shield would ‘get it’. “Police moved in and the defendant raised a knife at PC Milton, which was the common assault. The defendant was Tazered and arrested.” Kannan Siva, defending, said his client had expressed remorse and was disgusted at what he had done. Mr Siva said Hucker had had a civilised martial relationship, which was not beyond all repair, and in which both parents wanted the best for their children. “He waved the knife about foolishly,” Mr Siva said. “He had no intention to hurt them. He was drunk, He could have made a mistake and he knows that.” In 2000 Hucker pleaded guilty to the rape on September 11, 1998, on waste ground off Fortfield Road. Hucker, who is currently of no fixed abode, but previously lived at Eagle Crescent, Pucklechurch, was arrested 13 months later following an incident outside a Bristol club. His victim had been walking back from her grandmother’s with a friend when they decided to call at the home of a third girl. While the friend knocked at the door, the 12-year-old waited on a path a few yards away. It was then that Hucker raped her in what was described in court as a “horrific attack”. Despite a massive police investigation, the breakthrough did not come until 13 months later when Hucker was arrested over an unrelated attack on a nightclub bouncer. A routine DNA swab was taken and proved a perfect match with blood recovered from the clothing of the rape victim. He was jailed for ten years for the rape and a further 12 months for the assault on the nightclub bouncer by Judge Mark Dyer, who described the rape as “a wicked thing to do”.
