RICHARD FAULDS FROM CORBY AND TAMWORTH SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

In a series of disturbing criminal cases that have shocked the Northamptonshire community, Richard Faulds, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for heinous crimes involving young girls. Faulds, who has connections to Corby and Tamworth, was first convicted of child abuse charges in June 2014, and his criminal activities have continued to surface, leading to further convictions and extended sentences.

In June 2014, Faulds, then aged 30 and residing in Corby at Norse Walk, appeared before Northampton Crown Court after admitting to a range of serious charges. These included sexual assault on a child under 13, inciting children to engage in sexual activities, and possessing indecent images and videos involving minors on his mobile device. The court heard that police had arrested Faulds following a complaint from a seven-year-old girl who reported that he had exposed himself to her and offered her money to keep quiet. The girl confided in her father about the incident two weeks later, prompting a police investigation.

Further allegations emerged when a second young girl came forward, accusing Faulds of exposing himself to her and showing her pornographic videos. She also claimed that Faulds threatened her with imprisonment if she disclosed what had happened. During the investigation, authorities seized Faulds’ mobile phone, which contained a disturbing collection of photographs and videos, including some depicting him abusing a young child. These images were classified on a severity scale, with some rated as level four, indicating a high level of seriousness. The police found evidence of Faulds’ involvement in child abuse, which contributed to his eight-year prison sentence handed down by Judge Timothy Smith.

Following his arrest, Faulds was taken into custody and later appeared at Northampton Crown Court to face the charges. He pleaded guilty to the offenses, and the court sentenced him to eight years in prison, with the court also ordering that his name be added to the sex offenders’ register. Judge Smith emphasized the predatory nature of Faulds’ actions, stating, “You regarded your victims as easy targets and this leads me to conclude that there is a serious risk of you causing harm to the public. You have agreed with that analysis yourself in your interviews with the probation service, and there is a particular risk to children from you.”

In addition to his prison sentence, Faulds’ criminal record includes a prior conviction for a sexual offense, along with multiple convictions for dishonesty and a robbery. His criminal history, combined with the recent offenses, paints a disturbing picture of a man with a long-standing pattern of predatory behavior.

Most recently, in January 2016, Faulds appeared via video link at Northampton Crown Court to admit to raping a young girl. The court was informed that he was already serving an eight-year sentence at Rye Hill prison near Rugby. Faulds pleaded guilty to the rape charge, and his sentencing was scheduled for later that year. The court’s proceedings highlighted the ongoing threat Faulds poses to the community, especially to vulnerable children, and underscored the seriousness with which the justice system is treating his crimes.
