HOLLOWAY MAN JAILED FOR AT LEAST 24 YEARS FOR GIRLFRIEND'S MURDER WITH SAWN-OFF SHOTGUN
A 39-year-old man named Richard Conroy was found guilty of killing his girlfriend, Leanne Foley, using a sawn-off shotgun in Holloway. The motive behind the murder was his anger over her socializing with another man.
Conroy fired two shots, hitting Foley in the head and chest, then fled the scene, claiming it was an accidental suicide attempt.
The court dismissed this explanation, with the judge stating that both shots were deliberately aimed at her with murderous intent.
Conroy was crying when he surrendered to police an hour later, confessing, “Take me away, I’ve killed her, I shot her twice in the face.” He pleaded guilty to her murder, illegal possession of a shotgun, and possession of knuckledusters.
The judge imposed a sentence of at least 24.5 years’ imprisonment.
Testimony revealed that Conroy and Foley often argued, and both struggled with alcohol and cocaine issues.
Conroy had previously been released on license following a robbery conviction from 2010.
The killing resulted in Foley’s death and was described by friends as losing an ‘angel’.
