MIDLANDS RAPIST JAILED FOR 15 YEARS DESPITE DENIAL
A 'dangerous' sex attacker has been jailed for 15 years as the woman he raped was commended for her 'immeasurable bravery'.Richard Allmark - who was branded a danger to women - pushed his victim and strangled her, using both hands.
He also whipped her with his necklace before punching and kicking her.
The 21-year-old was convicted of two charges of rape, intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a trial earlier this year.
However earlier this month, Staffordshire Police was forced to put out a wanted appeal for a smirking Allmark, who has continued to dispute his victim's version of events despite the jury's verdict.
He has now been sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, with Allmark, of Stellar Street, Smallthorne, and told he'll serve two-thirds of his sentence in prison before he can be considered for parole.
Prosecutor Ahmed Malik said: "Mr Allmark poses a high risk to members of the general public, particularly females.
He is a young man who is sexually predatory towards women." Allmark wrote a letter to the judge, however the contents were not disclosed to the court.
In mitigation, solicitor Anis Ali said: "Mr Allmark believes the document handed to the judge gives a better account of events, his circumstances and upbringing than what anyone else could deliver on his behalf.
He does not accept the verdict, but he understands how a jury could come to this conclusion, given the evidence they were presented with.
He knows he has gone wayward in his adolescent years and there is a sense he has lost his moral compass.
But he says he is making the most out of his time in prison and taking the opportunities given to him." Judge Graeme Smith placed Allmark on the Sex Offenders' Register for life, saying: "The jury were sure that you were guilty.
She has suffered psychological harm.
You are going to spend a significant period in custody.
When released you will be very much more mature than you are now." Speaking after the sentencing, DC Alicia Tierney, from Staffordshire Police's public protection unit, said: "The survivor in this case has shown immeasurable bravery in coming forward and telling us about the abuse she was subjected to.
I’m pleased that we’ve been able to build the evidence needed to secure this result against a dangerous individual who subjected the survivor to such physical and emotional harm."
