RICHARD AINSWORTH OF LINCOLN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND FANTASIES INVOLVING YOUNG GIRLS

In September 2013, a disturbing case emerged involving Richard Ainsworth, a resident of Lincoln, who was convicted of possessing and creating indecent images of children, alongside disturbing online conversations about abusing a nine-year-old girl. The investigation was initiated by Greater Manchester Police, who conducted a raid on Ainsworth’s home in Lincoln as part of a broader inquiry targeting another individual.

During the court proceedings at Lincoln Crown Court, prosecutor Edna Leonard detailed the findings of the police investigation. She revealed that Ainsworth had been in communication with another man, discussing heinous acts involving a young girl. According to Miss Leonard, Ainsworth confessed to having access to a nine-year-old girl, claiming he had raped her along with two of his friends. He further alleged that the child's mother was addicted to heroin and was unaware of the abuse, adding a layer of complexity and concern to the case.

The police investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of digital material on Ainsworth’s computer. A total of 62 indecent images of children were discovered, including 33 video recordings depicting the abuse of victims as young as three years old. These images and videos represented a grave violation of child safety and highlighted the severity of the crimes committed.

Richard Ainsworth, aged 46 and residing on Carram Way in Lincoln, pleaded guilty to multiple charges. He admitted to possessing indecent photographs of children on September 11, 2012. Additionally, he confessed to creating five indecent images of children and possessing 15 extreme pornographic images, which further underscored the depravity of his actions.

In sentencing, Judge Michael Heath sentenced Ainsworth to six years in prison. The judge expressed his condemnation of Ainsworth’s actions, stating, “For your own sexual gratification, and it can only be for that, you were watching children between the ages of three and five being gravely abused. These are real children being abused for the perverted pleasure of individuals like you. At the same time, you were engaged in a chat room claiming access to a nine-year-old child whom you had raped. You were fantasising about that.”

Defense lawyer Alex Rynn attempted to provide some context, explaining that Ainsworth’s life had been significantly impacted by personal tragedy. Rynn stated, “Throughout the course of the downloading of these images, Mr. Ainsworth was struggling emotionally. He was suffering stress. He says that what he did was as a result of curiosity and stupidity rather than any sexual motive. He appreciates he needs help.”

Despite these mitigating remarks, the court’s focus remained on the serious nature of the crimes committed and the need to protect children from such heinous acts. Ainsworth’s actions serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in uncovering and prosecuting offenders involved in such disturbing activities.
