AMMANFORD TEEN RODRI GRAVELL CAUGHT WITH GRAPHIC CHILD RAPE IMAGES IN LLANELLI

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Ammanford, Rhodri Huw Gravell, a 19-year-old resident of Margaret Street, has pleaded guilty to possessing multiple indecent images of children, some of which depict the most severe forms of abuse involving young victims as young as three years old.

The charges were formally admitted in Llanelli Magistrates' Court, where Gravell sat quietly in the dock, his gaze fixed on the floor as the details of the case were read aloud. Throughout the proceedings, he appeared visibly subdued, showing little emotion as he faced the serious allegations against him.

The investigation into Gravell’s activities began on January 22, when police officers executed a warrant at his home following a tip-off from specialist investigators. The tip suggested that electronic devices at his residence might contain indecent images of children, prompting a thorough search of his property.

During the search, law enforcement officials seized Gravell’s mobile phone and laptop from his bedroom. Subsequent analysis of these devices revealed the presence of multiple indecent images, some classified as Category A, indicating the most serious level of child exploitation material. The police confirmed that the images included graphic depictions of children being raped, with one involving a boy estimated to be between six and eight years old, and another involving a girl aged approximately three to five years old. These images were particularly disturbing, highlighting the severity of the offense.

In addition to the Category A images, police found other material classified as Category B and C on the laptop, with two images on Gravell’s mobile phone also falling into Category C. The Category B image depicted a child being raped, while the Category C images involved less severe but still illegal content.

Following his arrest, Gravell was taken to a police station for questioning. During the interview, he claimed to officers that he believed the children in the images were 17 years old, a statement that further underscores the disturbing nature of his actions. When asked about his online activity, Gravell admitted that he did not specifically search for child pornography but acknowledged that he accessed adult pornography daily. He also mentioned that he might have entered the word ‘teen’ during his online searches, which could have led to the discovery of such images.

District Judge David Parsons ordered that a pre-sentence report be prepared by the probation service to determine the appropriate course of action. The judge emphasized the seriousness of the case, indicating that if the evidence warranted, the matter could be escalated to the Crown Court for sentencing. Gravell is scheduled to appear again at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on October 8, where further proceedings will take place.
