REX MOODY FROM WOODHALL SPA SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN LINCOLN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Woodhall Spa, Rex Moody, a 43-year-old man, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after admitting to the sexual abuse of a young girl. The incident, which took place in Lincoln, came to light during a court hearing at Lincoln Crown Court, where Moody faced serious charges related to his inappropriate conduct towards a child under the age of 13.Initially, Moody was scheduled to stand trial on multiple charges, having previously denied any wrongdoing. However, just before the jury was sworn in, he unexpectedly changed his plea, admitting to the allegations of sexual assault and to causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. This plea change led to a conviction that will have lasting consequences for Moody, who now faces a lengthy prison term.
As part of his sentencing, Judge Simon Hirst ordered that Moody be placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, a measure that underscores the severity of his crimes. Additionally, the judge imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which will restrict Moody’s behaviour and interactions after his release from incarceration, aiming to protect the community from any potential risk he might pose.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Hirst acknowledged that Moody’s decision to admit guilt spared the young girl the trauma of giving evidence in court. However, the judge also emphasized that this act of remorse was limited, stating, “You have a sexual interest in children,” which reflects the gravity of the offences committed.
Prosecutor Andrew Vout detailed the disturbing nature of Moody’s actions, revealing that the defendant had indecently touched the girl on at least three separate occasions. Furthermore, Moody had persuaded the young girl to perform a sexual act on him, compounding the severity of his misconduct. The court was informed that the girl’s earliest memory of the abuse was when she was just four years old, and she has no recollections of any events prior to that age.
The case has left a lasting impact on the community of Woodhall Spa, highlighting the importance of safeguarding children and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions. Moody’s conviction and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by vulnerable children and the ongoing need for vigilance and protective measures in society.
