REICE WILLS FROM FRATTON AND SOUTHAMPTON SENTENCED FOR REPEATED CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a disturbing series of criminal acts, Reice John Wills, a man with a troubling history of child sexual offenses, has been convicted and sentenced for his latest misconduct involving minors. Wills, who resides on Shearer Road in Fratton, was brought to the attention of law enforcement authorities after suspicious interactions with children raised concerns about his intentions.Police officers, upon seizing his mobile device, uncovered a pattern of sexualized conversations with children believed to be under the age of 13. These conversations included explicit messages that indicated Wills was attempting to incite young children into sexual activities. His actions prompted immediate legal action, culminating in his appearance at Portsmouth Crown Court on a recent Friday.
During the court proceedings, Wills, aged 27 at the time, pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to cause or incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. The court sentenced him to a prison term of two years and three months. Additionally, Wills was ordered to register as a sex offender and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a decade, restricting his activities and monitoring his behavior.
This case is not Wills' first encounter with the criminal justice system related to child sexual offenses. In 2018, he was previously jailed for asking a 12-year-old girl for sex after grooming her online. His 2018 sentence was two years and eight months, which also included breaches of a sexual harm prevention order, such as deleting internet history, and having unsupervised contact with a minor under 16. His failure to comply with notification requirements further compounded his legal issues.
Wills' criminal history also includes a 2016 conviction, where he pleaded guilty to causing a child under 16 to watch sexual activity and asking her to undress. For this, he received a 12-month suspended sentence, reflecting the severity of his repeated offenses.
Further back in October 2018, Wills was convicted at Southampton Crown Court for soliciting a 12-year-old girl for sex via Facebook. The court heard how Wills contacted the girl in July of that year, making inappropriate suggestions about her upcoming 13th birthday. It was also revealed that Wills, who suffers from a limp, speech impediment, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy, had spent considerable time alone in his mother’s attic, and had a history of being bullied.
Judge Parker, presiding over Wills' latest case, sentenced him to two years and eight months in prison. The judge emphasized that Wills had specifically targeted a young girl, perceiving her as an easier target due to her age. The judge also expressed concern over Wills' apparent lack of insight into the harm his actions cause, stating that he either denies his inappropriate interests or fails to understand their seriousness. The court highlighted the significant risk Wills poses to young girls and the potential for ongoing harm.
As part of his sentence, Wills will also face an extended license period of six years upon release, during which he will be under strict supervision by authorities to prevent further offenses. His case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals with a history of child sexual offenses and the importance of vigilant law enforcement and judicial measures to protect vulnerable minors.
