REECE WYNNE FROM MOLD SENTENCED FOR SEX WITH UNDER-AGE GIRL AND ROBBERY IN MOLD

In a case that has shocked the community of Mold, Reece Charles Wynne, aged 19, has been sentenced to a total of 28 months in youth detention for engaging in sexual activities with a girl who was under the age of consent. This sentencing follows a series of serious allegations and convictions that have brought to light Wynne's troubled history and the circumstances surrounding his offenses.

Wynne, a resident of Alltami Road in Mold, was already serving a 30-month sentence imposed in October 2015 for a separate robbery incident. That earlier conviction stemmed from an incident where he met a man through the Grindr app, a popular social networking platform for adults seeking sexual encounters. The court heard that Wynne had arranged to meet an older man via Grindr and subsequently visited his home, where they engaged in sexual activity. This event was part of the evidence that led to his current sentencing.

The recent case involved Wynne admitting to four charges related to sexual activity with a teenage girl, including engaging in intercourse and inciting her to participate in such acts. The court was informed that Wynne had also sent highly sexualized messages to the girl, which indicated a pattern of inappropriate and predatory behavior. The girl, who was under the age of consent, told Wynne she was willing to engage in a sexual relationship, and he asked her if she was sure. She responded affirmatively, but the court was told she felt pressured at times, especially when Wynne would become moody or demand sex multiple times a day. The case also revealed that Wynne's behavior was influenced by the frequent use of alcohol, legal highs, and cannabis.

During police interviews, Wynne claimed he had not asked the girl for images found on his phone and denied sending her any explicit images of himself. He insisted that their interactions were limited to kissing and cuddling, despite evidence to the contrary. The court was shown messages that clearly indicated a sexual relationship was ongoing.

Adding to the gravity of his offenses, Wynne was also involved in a robbery. On his way home from meeting the older man, he used a bottle as a weapon to threaten and rob the man of a mobile phone and cash. This incident occurred in October 2015, and Wynne was arrested and taken into custody. His defense lawyer, Andrew Green, asked the court to consider the delays in bringing the case to trial, noting that Wynne’s guilty pleas had spared the girl from a lengthy trial process. Green also highlighted Wynne’s troubled background, describing him as a young man who had experienced a chaotic and difficult early life, but who was brought up in a structured environment by his adoptive parents.

References from those close to Wynne described him as friendly, polite, helpful, and motivated. He had previously gained work experience at a local veterinary practice in 2012, but the death of his mentor, a veterinarian he was close to, profoundly affected him. This loss, coupled with his subsequent struggles with drugs and alcohol, contributed to his descent into criminal activity. Despite his past, Wynne expressed a desire to change and turn his life around.

Judge Rhys Rowlands, presiding over the case at Mold Crown Court, expressed frustration over the delays in prosecuting the case involving the under-aged girl, describing them as “simply inexplicable.” The judge also noted that Wynne was on bail for the offense against the girl at the time of the robbery but was not formally charged until July of the previous year. The court ordered that Wynne serve the 28-month youth detention sentence concurrently with his existing sentence for robbery, meaning he will serve both sentences simultaneously. Wynne was also ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

This case has raised serious concerns within the Mold community about the safety of minors and the importance of addressing grooming and exploitation issues. Wynne’s actions and the subsequent legal proceedings highlight the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in protecting vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
