RAYMOND URQUHART CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING AND ASSAULT IN PERTH AND DUNKELD ROAD

A man from Perth, Raymond Urquhart, is set to stand trial before a jury on December 4, facing serious allegations of kidnapping and assault involving two of his former partners. The 56-year-old resident of Dunkeld Road appeared at Perth Sheriff Court last week, where he entered not guilty pleas to a total of six charges related to incidents that occurred over a span of more than a year.

According to the prosecution, between October 8 and October 29, 2016, Urquhart was involved in an incident at a flat located on Alexandra Street in Perth. It is alleged that he assaulted Tanya Rae, who was his partner at the time, and unlawfully detained her against her will. The details of the assault include accusations that he grabbed her by the throat, applying pressure that restricted her breathing, and also took her mobile phone, causing her injury. These actions are considered serious violations of her personal safety and rights.

The allegations do not stop there. It is further claimed that between August 1 and August 31, 2017, Urquhart assaulted another former partner, Audrey Gallacher. The charges state that he physically pushed her and seized her during an incident at a house on Dunkeld Road in Perth. The assault reportedly involved him pushing her on the body and forcibly pulling her from her bed, indicating a pattern of aggressive behavior towards her during that period.

Additional charges relate to an incident in October 2017, where Urquhart is accused of seizing control during a car journey. Between October 1 and October 31, 2017, during a drive along Atholl Street in Perth, he allegedly took hold of the steering wheel while Ms. Gallacher was driving, an act that could have endangered both of their lives and demonstrated a dangerous level of interference and control.

The final charge pertains to an incident on November 17, 2017, at a residence on Errochty Grove in Perth. It is alleged that Urquhart assaulted Ms. Gallacher once again, seizing her by the throat and pinning her against a wall, actions that further underscore the violent nature of his conduct towards her. These allegations paint a disturbing picture of repeated violence and intimidation involving the accused and his former partners in the Perth area.
