RAYMOND PATERSON: HORRIFIC SEX OFFENDER FROM HULL STRIKES AGAIN

Paterson’s criminal activities included grooming and sexually assaulting two young girls over a period spanning from March to November of the previous year.
His actions left one of his victims suffering from persistent nightmares and insomnia, highlighting the severe psychological trauma inflicted upon her.
The details of his misconduct reveal a pattern of predatory behavior, including inappropriate touching and sexual remarks, which he carried out under the guise of familiarity and false compassion.
Prosecutor Louise Reevell outlined that Paterson twice tapped the younger girl on her bottom and told her to be a good girl, actions that made her feel uncomfortable and prompted her to run away from him.
For over a month, he engaged in daily gestures such as kissing his fingers, touching her face, and making her feel uneasy.
These repeated incidents caused significant emotional distress, with the girl now struggling with nightmares and sleep difficulties.
In a separate case, Paterson befriended the mother of another young girl, exploiting her sympathy after claiming to have battled cancer.
Under this false pretense, he sexually assaulted her daughter on multiple occasions, grabbing her chest and making sexualized remarks.
He also touched her face, rubbed her hand against his cheek, and stroked her hair, actions that left the girl suffering from anxiety and emotional turmoil.
It was revealed that Paterson had repeatedly breached a sexual harm prevention order issued in July 2011, which was meant to restrict his contact with minors.
This order was a consequence of his previous conviction for raping a girl under 13 and causing another girl to engage in sexual activity.
Despite this legal restriction, he allowed young girls into his home, further demonstrating his blatant disregard for court orders and the safety of children.
Raymond Paterson’s criminal record is extensive, with 15 prior convictions, nine of which were sexual offenses.
His repeated violations and continued predatory behavior prompted the court to classify him as a dangerous offender.
Judge John Thackray QC sentenced him to three years in prison, with an extended five-year license period upon release, emphasizing the high risk he poses to children.
Adding to the gravity of his offenses, a separate incident in July 2011 involved Paterson, then a security guard at the Princes Royal Hospital in east Hull, sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
The victim’s mother discovered evidence of the abuse through her daughter’s diary, which detailed Paterson’s misconduct.
The mother expressed her anger and frustration, stating, “I hope every day of his sentence feels like a life sentence to him.
In my opinion, it is my daughter who has got the life sentence and not him.
I don’t think the sentence is long enough for the shocking things he did.” Paterson pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual activity with a child during his trial at Hull Crown Court, with the prosecution choosing not to pursue a rape charge.
The victim’s mother praised the police for their support and expressed hope that her daughter could begin to move past the trauma.
