RAYMOND HENDRICKSON FROM HULL JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE AT SOUTH HOLDERNESS TECH COLLEGE
In January 2010, a teacher from Hull was sentenced to prison for his involvement in a serious case of child abuse.
Raymond Hendrickson, aged 42, who was employed at South Holderness Technology College, pleaded guilty in Hull Crown Court to multiple counts of sexual assault and one count of assault by penetration involving a girl under the age of 16.
The court heard that Hendrickson's actions were both sustained and repeated, targeting a very young victim.
The judge, Recorder Guy Kearl QC, sentenced Hendrickson to five years in prison, condemning his conduct as 'wicked.' During the sentencing, Recorder Kearl emphasized the gravity of Hendrickson's misconduct, stating, 'You are a school teacher, somebody who worked with children.
These were sustained, repeated offences against a very young victim.
The effect of your behaviour is likely to affect your victim for the rest of her life.' It was revealed that the victim was not a student at the school where Hendrickson taught.
The girl had reached out to ChildLine, which prompted the police to become involved and investigate the case.
The authorities' intervention was crucial in bringing Hendrickson to justice for his reprehensible actions.
