HOTEL WORKER AVOIDS JAIL OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT TO SPEED DEPORTATION
A man named Rasel Khan, who was employed at an Aberdeenshire hotel as a waiter and bartender, engaged in a sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred late in 2023 when the girl was socializing with her family and friends at the venue.
Khan led her into a private part of the hotel, where he initiated unwanted physical contact.
He began to hug, kiss, lick, and grope her while she was distressed.
Despite her efforts to pull away and her request to leave, Khan continued his assault for approximately ten minutes, touching her breasts over and under her clothing and kissing her without consent.
The girl managed to push him off and returned to her group, visibly upset, after which the police were contacted.
Khan, upon arrest, claimed that the incident involved just a hug and insisted she knew it was only a hug.
He pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the girl.
Given the seriousness of the offense, the court's sheriff, Rhona Wark, chose not to impose further punishment other than admonishing him because enforcing a sentence might delay his deportation to Bangladesh.
Khan’s address was in Belvedere, Salmon Road.
His deportation was imminent, and he was not present during sentencing.
The sheriff placed him on the sex offenders register for five years and admonished him, meaning the conviction would go on his record but no additional punishment was given.
The decision was influenced by his deportation, which was scheduled to occur soon, and she emphasized he would not be staying or returning to the country.
