RAGHU SINGAMANENI'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN LUTON AND LONDON REVEALED
In June 2023, a disturbing case involving a man named Raghu Singamaneni has come to light, revealing a series of heinous crimes committed across London and the town of Luton. The investigation, carried out by the Metropolitan Police, uncovered a pattern of sexual assaults linked to Singamaneni, who exploited his position as a massage parlour operator to prey on vulnerable women.
Singamaneni, aged 50 and residing on London Road in Luton, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, June 16, to serve a lengthy prison term of 18 years.
His conviction followed a comprehensive trial that concluded on March 31, where he was found guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault involving four different women.
The court's verdict was unanimous, reflecting the strength of the evidence presented against him.
The investigation revealed that Singamaneni operated two massage parlours, one located on Holloway Road in Islington and another on High Road in Wood Green.
He advertised job opportunities on various employment apps, enticing women to come and work at his establishments.
Once the women arrived for interviews or appointments, Singamaneni would manipulate the situation, often making appointments to meet them at the parlours, where he would then carry out his predatory acts.
The first victim, a 17-year-old girl, was the initial complainant to police.
She had arranged to meet Singamaneni for a job interview at his parlour.
During their meeting, he explained the training she would need to work there.
The following day, she returned to the parlour, where Singamaneni offered her a glass of prosecco.
She later told police that she became so intoxicated that she vomited.
Taking advantage of her state, Singamaneni took her to a hotel, where he attempted to rape her and committed a sexual assault.
The young woman reported the incident to Tottenham Police Station just over two weeks later.
Singamaneni was subsequently arrested and released under investigation as further inquiries were conducted.
Another serious allegation involved a 19-year-old woman who accused Singamaneni of rape at her workplace on High Road, N22.
She claimed that he had requested a massage, insisted she drink vodka, and then raped her.
Further investigations uncovered a third incident involving a 23-year-old woman who responded to a job advertisement and agreed to meet Singamaneni at a hotel in Golders Green.
Once inside the hotel room, he again offered her alcohol, and after she accepted, he forcibly removed her clothing and raped her.
The final known offence took place at a hotel on Queens Avenue, N10.
The victim, a 17-year-old girl, had applied for a job as a masseur and was told to go to the hotel for an interview and a trial massage.
She was met there by Singamaneni, who took her into a hotel room, offered her drinks and drugs, which she accepted.
She was then raped by Singamaneni.
After the assault, she left the hotel and contacted a friend, who in turn called the police.
The evidence collected from these women was substantial, leading to Singamaneni's arrest.
Following his arrest, Singamaneni was charged and convicted on multiple counts, including three counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of attempted rape.
His crimes, spanning several locations and involving multiple victims, have left a trail of trauma and distress.
The case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need for thorough investigations in cases of sexual assault, especially when perpetrators exploit positions of trust and authority to commit their crimes.
