RAEES JAMAL AND HIS HEINOUS CRIMES IN LEICESTERSHIRE
Raees Jamal, a TikTok influencer and resident of Leicestershire, has a criminal history that spans multiple serious charges, culminating in a recent murder conviction along with other offenses. The troubling timeline of Jamal’s misconduct reveals that he was convicted of a heinous sexual assault just over a year prior to his involvement in the murder that led to his current imprisonment.
In a case that garnered significant media attention and legal scrutiny, Raees Jamal was identified as an accomplice to Mahek Bukhari, who gained notoriety as a TikTok influencer.
After a lengthy judicial process at Leicester Crown Court, a jury found Jamal, along with three other individuals, guilty of murder in a verdict announced after a 50-day trial.
The gravity of this case underscored the complex and disturbing nature of the crimes committed in the Leicestershire area.
It was later revealed that Jamal’s criminal record includes a prior conviction for a rape that occurred in June 2020 in Loughborough.
This incident involved the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, an offense for which Jamal was adjudicated and sentenced the previous year.
An internal trial, held beforehand, kept the jury in the murder case unaware of this earlier conviction to ensure impartiality and fairness in delivering a verdict.
Similarly, the media was restricted from reporting any details about the rape during the murder trial to prevent prejudicing the jury.
Jamal was sentenced in August 2022 at Leicester Crown Court to serve ten years in prison for the rape.
During this sentencing, Judge Robert Brown emphasized the importance of compassion and support for the victim, a young girl who was just 17 at the time of the assault.
The judge explicitly told the victim’s family that she was a victim and should not blame herself for what happened, offering words intended to facilitate her healing process.
According to court proceedings and police reports, the assault took place shortly after the girl and Jamal met in person.
She had initially engaged with him through social media while she was still 16.
On the day of the incident, she agreed to accompany Jamal from Loughborough town centre back to his home on Lingdale Road.
Jamal’s parents, who were present at the house, left for a night shift, leaving Jamal alone with the girl upstairs.
What ensued was a disturbing sequence where Jamal, described as “pestering” her, ultimately restrained her on the bed and forced himself upon her despite her repeated protests and attempts to push him away.
Prosecutor Daren Samat highlighted the trauma experienced by the victim, describing her as having been psychologically affected to the extent of attempting suicide.
In a heartfelt letter to the police, she expressed that she remains haunted by the incident two years later, suffering from feelings of isolation and ongoing emotional distress.
Her letter described nights of tears and a profound struggle to come to terms with her experience.
During the trial, Jamal’s defense attorney, Ayoub Khan, contested the allegations, arguing that there was no grooming involved and that the sexual assault was not sustained.
However, the judge dismissed these arguments, underscoring the clear evidence of grooming over a period of about six months through social media interactions.
The court emphasized that Jamal, who was then just 20 years old, had a turbulent upbringing, yet this did not serve as a justification for his actions.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Brown stressed that the victim did not wish to engage in any form of sexual activity at the outset and that Jamal’s actions constituted sustained and overpowering coercion.
She was physically trapped and overpowered, repeatedly saying “no” and trying to force him off, yet she was overpowered.
The psychological harm inflicted on her was profound and enduring.
Jamal’s criminal record, marked by the rape conviction, will forever impact his life.
He faces an indefinite period of incarceration, with a minimum term to be determined, and has been issued a lifetime restraining order to prohibit any contact with his victim.
Additionally, Jamal is now on the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the severity of his offenses and the ongoing concern for public safety in the Leicestershire community.
