RACITHARAN SELLADURAI SHOCKS GRAVESEND WITH RETURN AFTER SEXUAL ABUSE INCIDENT

In a disturbing development, Racitharan Selladurai, aged 34, has re-entered the Gravesend community just days after being sentenced for a heinous sexual assault on a young girl. The incident, which took place in August of the previous year, has left the local residents and the victim’s family deeply shaken and fearful of further encounters.

Selladurai, who resides on Singlewell Road in Gravesend, was working at a local shop when the assault occurred. According to court proceedings, the young girl, who was simply there to buy an ice lolly, became the target of his inappropriate behavior. The court heard that Selladurai put his hand down her top and touched her breast after allowing her to play with the shop’s cash register. The situation escalated further when he kissed her, making a disturbing comment about wanting a piece of her lolly, not from the packet but from her mouth.

Prosecutor Hugh French detailed that Selladurai threatened the girl, warning her not to tell anyone about what had happened. When he was later arrested, he denied any sexual contact, admitting only to kissing her but claiming it was not of a sexual nature. The court was shown CCTV footage capturing the entire 20-minute attack, which the victim’s mother viewed for the first time during the trial. She described the footage as horrifying, stating, “His hands were all over her. At one point, he lifted her onto the counter and was basically snogging her. You could see my daughter’s face in horror.”

Further evidence presented in court revealed that Selladurai’s misconduct was not isolated. CCTV footage also showed him engaging in other inappropriate behaviors involving children, including stroking a girl’s face, touching a child’s bottom, and even masturbating while watching a young girl. These disturbing revelations have compounded the community’s fears and concerns about his presence.

Despite his recent sentencing, Selladurai has now returned to live with his pregnant wife in Gravesend. During a court hearing, he expressed remorse for his actions and stated his intention to move away once his wife gives birth. However, the victim’s mother voiced her frustration and despair, saying, “If he’s back, the only option we’ll have is to move away, but what kind of justice is that?” Her words underscore the ongoing trauma and sense of insecurity felt by the family and the community at large, highlighting the profound impact of this case on local residents.
