POITR DANOWSKI SHAMES PERTH WITH VIOLENT ASSAULTS ON EX-PARTNER
Poitr Danowski, a 43-year-old man, appeared before Perth Sheriff Court to face serious allegations related to violent assaults on his former partner. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about two separate incidents that took place in Perth, highlighting a pattern of aggressive behavior linked to alcohol consumption.According to court records, Danowski had previously served a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence in Poland for similar offenses before relocating to Scotland. Despite his criminal history, he was not sentenced to additional jail time but was ordered to stay away from his ex-partner for a period of one year. This order was part of a series of measures aimed at preventing further harm and ensuring public safety.
The first incident, which occurred on March 31 of this year, involved a heated argument at the couple’s residence in Perth. Witnesses reported that the dispute lasted approximately 45 minutes and was centered around Danowski’s alcohol use and his conduct during the argument. During this altercation, Danowski physically assaulted his partner by punching her multiple times. The assault was severe enough that she fell to the floor, with witnesses observing her on her knees, arms raised in a protective stance over her head. Shouts from Danowski could be heard during the incident, indicating a high level of aggression.
The second incident took place on June 7, when Danowski, reportedly intoxicated, entered his ex-partner’s home through an unlocked door. Once inside, he assaulted her again, this time punching her in the face and striking her with a door as he left the premises. The victim was seen with reddening on her face, and her distress was evident enough to prompt a domestic abuse alarm. Emergency services received a call that included crying and distress signals, underscoring the severity of the situation.
During the court hearing, Danowski admitted to consuming approximately two liters of vodka prior to the incident and driving under the influence of alcohol. His solicitor acknowledged that his client struggles with alcohol dependency, especially during stressful periods, which has contributed to his violent behavior. The court took into account his previous conviction in Poland and his current circumstances when deciding on the appropriate sentence.
Rather than imposing further imprisonment, the court opted for a supervised sentence lasting 18 months. Conditions of this supervision include mandatory participation in alcohol counseling, the completion of 200 hours of unpaid community work, and a one-year ban on driving. Additionally, a 12-month non-harassment order was issued to prevent any contact or intimidation of the victim, aiming to protect her from further harm and ensure compliance with the court’s directives.
