PHILLIP TAYLOR: BIRKENHEAD PAEDOPHILE PREDATOR SENTENCED FOR NEW OFFENCES

In November 2020, a disturbing case involving Phillip Taylor, a man from Birkenhead, came to the forefront as he faced additional charges related to his long history of abusing young girls.

Taylor, who had previously been convicted of numerous sexual offences, was once again in the spotlight after a ninth victim courageously came forward to reveal the extent of his heinous actions.

Phillip Taylor, a man who had built a facade of respectability within the Birkenhead community, had a dark secret that spanned over two decades.

Over this period, he groomed not only the young girls he targeted but also their parents, gaining their trust to facilitate his sickening abuse.

His manipulative tactics included showering the children with gifts and treats, creating a false sense of closeness and security.

This grooming process was designed to make the victims want to spend more time with him, often alone, which he exploited for his own depraved purposes.

He was known to have abused eight girls over the course of 20 years, with his crimes involving bathing the victims, touching them inappropriately, and even filming himself during the abuse.

His actions were so severe that police later discovered a collection of videos and thousands of images depicting child sexual abuse when they raided his home on Bratan Road, Birkenhead.

These findings left little doubt about the extent of his depravity, forcing him to plead guilty to 58 sexual offences.

Consequently, in August 2013, Taylor was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of seven and a half years, making him eligible for parole from February 2021.

Despite his previous conviction, Taylor’s criminal activities did not end there.

In a recent trial, he was found guilty of six additional offences, which included 33 separate charges of indecent assault, sexual assault, and engaging in sexual activity with a child.

The trial, which lasted five days, was conducted with Taylor appearing via video link from HMP Liverpool.

Prosecutors detailed how Taylor had continued his pattern of grooming the ninth girl by showering her with gifts and affection, making her want to spend as much time as possible with him.

He ingratiated himself into her family’s life by offering use of his computer and transportation, further solidifying his manipulative hold.

Judge Gary Woodhall presided over the case and described Taylor’s actions as a calculated betrayal of trust.

The judge stated, “You bought her and her family’s trust.

Having done so, you then began to use your time alone with her to sexually assault her.” The court heard that Taylor made the girl take baths and showers while he watched, then helped wash her, claiming it was necessary for her hygiene.

He also insisted on drying her and applying talcum powder, actions driven by his own sexual gratification.

Additionally, he took her out in his van and made her urinate in a bucket or pot while he watched.

The victim, who was just a child at the time, described her feelings of betrayal and confusion.

She said, “When I was a child I worshipped Phillip Taylor.

He lavished me with affection, gifts and attention.

He got me anything I wanted.

I was too young to realize I was being manipulated and too young to realize what he had done to me was wrong.” Her testimony revealed the lasting impact of his abuse, including feelings of fear, vulnerability, anxiety, and sleep disturbances, especially when memories resurfaced.

Judge Woodhall emphasized that Taylor’s denial of any wrongdoing demonstrated a lack of remorse.

He remarked, “You have shown in my judgment in contesting this matter a complete lack of remorse about what you did.” The court also referenced Taylor’s previous characterization as a “cold, calculating, paedophilic predator,” noting that despite reports suggesting he had completed courses aimed at understanding his crimes, he continued to deny seeking out vulnerable families and showed no genuine remorse.

In sentencing Taylor to an additional four years in prison, the judge highlighted the danger he posed.

This sentence extends the earliest date he can apply for parole to around November 2022.

Furthermore, Taylor is required to sign the Sex Offenders Register and adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

Judge Woodhall concluded by stating, “I have assessed a complete lack of remorse by you and a continuing failure to understand the effects of your offending on your victim,” underscoring the ongoing threat he represents.

In summary, Phillip Taylor’s case from Birkenhead exemplifies a long history of predatory behavior, manipulation, and abuse.

His repeated offences and the recent convictions serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for justice to protect vulnerable children from such dangerous individuals.
